A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to attend my first Shopify Editions in Toronto, but this time, from a different vantage point. After spending 8 years at Shopify, I attended as part of the partner ecosystem.
Experiencing it firsthand, revealed just how extraordinary it truly is. It reminded me why I joined Shopify in the first place—and why I’m just as excited now to keep building with it.
What Makes the Ecosystem Special
During my time as an Account Executive at Shopify, I always knew the ecosystem was something special, something that set Shopify apart in the market.
But being on the other side immersed in the energy, innovation, and collaboration that filled every conversation at Editions gave me a whole new perspective.
The ecosystem isn’t just a differentiator. It’s a force. It’s made up of incredibly brilliant, driven people who are deeply committed to helping merchants thrive.
Being part of that now is both humbling and energizing.
Shopify’s Commitment to Partners
One thing became crystal clear throughout the event: Shopify isn’t just continuing to grow. It’s intentionally leaning into what makes it unique, its ecosystem.
Again and again, Shopify emphasized how it’s investing in making it easier for partners to build truly world-class experiences for merchants. Whether it was announcements around Horizon theme blocks, AI-powered Sidekick, or the expanded rollout of Shop Pay Installments, the message was loud and clear. The future of commerce will be shaped by collaboration, and Shopify is setting the stage for its partners to lead the way.
Moments That Inspired
The talks throughout the event were a mix of inspiration and momentum. There was a clear sense that Shopify isn’t slowing down anytime soon—and neither are the partners building alongside it.
I spent most of my time in the business track and was especially energized by the stories shared around how partners are driving impact, especially in retail.
Hearing how others are solving real-world challenges made me even more excited about what we’re building at Swym, particularly around Shopify POS. It sparked some great conversations with partners, many of whom were just as excited about the possibilities.
In-Person Magic with the Swym Team
A personal highlight for me was finally meeting some of my teammates in real life.
With Swym being fully remote and most of our team spread across India, in-person moments are rare and special.Editions gave me a rare and meaningful opportunity to meet some of my teammates in person for the first time.
Getting to spend time together face-to-face—sharing meals, conversations — added a whole new layer of connection to the work we do every day.
Leaving Re-Energized
Leaving Editions, I felt re-energized by what’s possible.
Shopify isn’t just building great products. It’s creating the conditions for its ecosystem to do their best work.
As someone who’s seen this platform from multiple perspectives, I can confidently say the opportunity to build with Shopify has never felt more exciting—or more essential.
